GV Health are currently undergoing a $229 million redevelopment, this redevelopment will include a new renal dialysis unit, an expanded emergency department including satellite medical imaging, inpatient wards, extended theatre space, intensive care unit, a new kitchen, mortuary and the establishment of a Women’s and Children’s precinct featuring a new, special care nursery, paediatric ward and refurbished maternity ward.

The role

We are seeking an Infection Control Clinical Consultant to work in collaboration with the Infection Control Coordinators, Infection Prevention and Control Committee members and others to provide overall coordination and further development of the Infection Prevention and Control program, staff health programs and priorities.

The Infection Control Clinical Consultant is responsible for developing and coordinating multi-disciplinary activities related to the control, prevention, monitoring and feedback of hospital acquired infections. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing expert and timely advice on issues related to infection control and prevention for patients, staff and care givers.

The Infection Control Clinical Consultant develops, coordinates and evaluates the Infection Prevention and Control Program for all GV Health campuses.

To be successful in the role you will need:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • A post-registration Infection Control Certificate or relevant tertiary qualification
  • Minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in an acute care setting
  • Knowledge of Victorian, Australian and International Standards and Guidelines relating to infection control
  • Previous experience in infection control

Selection Criteria
Essential: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse
Essential: Commitment to the GV Health Values of Compassion, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Teamwork and Ethical Behaviour
Essential: Hold an Infection Control post-registration certificate or relevant tertiary qualification
Essential: Hold an Infection Control post-registration certificate or relevant tertiary qualification with a minimum of 3 years post registration experience in an acute care setting
Essential: Knowledge of Victorian, Australian and International standards and guidelines relating to Infection Control
Essential: Ability to work in an autonomous environment, prioritise workload and work to deadlines
Essential: Demonstrated knowledge of quality management and National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards/Aged Care/Community Care Common Standards accreditation requirements
Essential: A satisfactory National Criminal History Record Check, Victorian 'Employee' Working with Children Check and completion of a Commonwealth of Australia Statutory Declaration prior to commencement of employment
Desirable: Accredited as a Nurse Immuniser and/or counsellor for HIV/Hepatitis C pre- and post-counselling within Victoria
